April and May have been very busy months for the Huntington School of Fine Woodworking. We have spent a great deal of time working on the completion of the second order of 12 wine display racks for Kirkwood Winery.

We have also been producing items for sale at the various events in which we participate. The students are spending a lot of time working with the equipment and practicing their finishing skills. With the wide variety of projects we are involved with at one time; the students are starting to learn manage their time and keep track of their progress on more than one project at a time.

The school participated in the West Virginia Housing Authority Conference at Pullman Plaza Hotel. We set up an informational display about the program and set up samples of our work for sale.

On April 25, 26, 27 we participated in the Dogwood Arts and Crafts Show at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena. The school's work was well received by the community. Sales were brisk at both events, giving students practice in salesmanship, writing receipts and handing money. Students took ownership of the school's success and the public's response to their products gave them a feeling of personal pride in their work.

The school completed an order for and delivered 72 doll house turntables to Handley House in Wheeling West Virginia on April 10th. On April 30, we delivered an order of wine racks, banana holders, mug racks and TV turn tables to Tamarack. As a special treat we incorporated a fishing trip along the way with the delivery. Everyone enjoyed the day.
