On March 4, the school participated in WIA Day in the state capitol. The woodshop set up a display to show our state lawmakers about our program, which they help to fund. The students were very pleased by the comments about the quality of their work made by our state representatives.

Students presented the governor and first lady with an oak blanket chest and lazy susan they had made. Students who attended WIA Day were Lee Hickman, Angela Lovejoy, Vincent Higginbottom, Timothy Sutphin and Jessica Keith.

We have started on the second order of 12 wine bottle display racks for the West Virginia winery. Some of these wine bottle display racks will be in Kroger stores in our local area. Filling the second wine rack order is giving the students practice with various skills in producing multiple components. Students are showing improvement in working to keep precision in each of the individual parts so that they will be interchangeable in assembling the wine racks.

The afternoon students have started building 72 doll house turntables, which we will deliver to Handley House in Wheeling, WV. Handley House distributes these turntables to miniature shops for sale all over the country.

Other shop time is devoted to items for our store front and for sale at the Depot in down town Huntington. We are hoping to deliver items for sale at Le Cook store at the beginning of April.

We are going to begin work for Fairland West Elementary School. We will be repairing wooden storage cabinets in the classrooms and building oak units to be used as individual cubbies for students to keep their books and coats. Fairland wants to make this an ongoing project. The ROSS students plan to help with this project.
